The article that I have chosen to read is titled “Cyber
Ethics in the Workplace” and was written by a brilliant gentleman by the name
of Winn Schwartau. As the
title states, the article is about the ethical use of technology in the
workplace. The author, who is extremely knowledgeable in the issue of cyber
ethics begins the article with a brief insight into his background and travels
to three different continents where he visits businesses and hosts seminars
promoting cyber ethics.
Schwartau explains how the ethics of a company is set by
the leadership forces in the company. This means that managers and human
resource department’s needs to set a clear cut set of rules that define the company’s
stance on ethical issues. They need to do this so that when employees are
greeted with an ethical dilemma at their fingertips they know how to properly
handle it.
Personally I agree with Winn in everything he has stated
in the article and do believe that it is up to the management to define what
they find as unethical.
